unsupportive staff
Terrible school. Staff aren't supportive of students at all. Horrific bullying of students and teachers don't care. Rubbish mental health of students and the education isn't that brilliant either - good grades depend on intelligence of students rather than support of staff
Excellent staff effort towards pupils
This is a genuine request to anyone thinking of coming to this school either for secondary or sixth form... please dont. This school prides itself on its excellent exam results but dont be fooled. These results are ONLY and only on the basis of the selective process the school goes through, specially during the start of sixth form in which students who dont have good grades get asked to go elsewhere. The amount of pressure on students is actually unbelieveable yet the teachers at this school are the most unhelpful and worst Ive ever had and that says alot as the school i went to before this was rated Inadequate by Ofsted but i got more help from that school at gcse than i did here. They set you tons of homework as though you have no other revision to do and as if their subject is the only subject you take. When asked to help outside of lessons, some will claim they dont get paid for teaching at lunchtime and act as if theyre doing you a favour while others will be no where to be found or say they only have one free today and wouldnt like to spend that teaching. I have found that as none of the teachers are any use, i have had to teach myself almost everything at home for all of my subjects including the content as well as the exam technique. The fact that you are made to come into school even if you have free lessons first and second period is also annoying and they treat you like a child and make you do pointless activities in form for 20 minutes everyday. In terms of uni applications, the school does little to advise you as to how to write a good personal statement and just set you a deadline as to when your application should be sent. Another thing that incredibly annoys me is that teachers have clear favourites. They act as though only some students are capable of getting good grades and will sometimes pretend selective students are the only ones who understand the complicated methods they teach. I hate every day i have spent at this school and probably wouldve been happier at a college or non-grammar school. This school definitely doesnt live up to its expectations and i would advise anyone looking for good teaching and experience to not come here. And they seem so intent on taking on even more students in year 7 and 12 but seriously dont realise how big of a problem overcrowding is becoming. I would say more but then the review would be too long for anyone to bother to read.
Its amazing!! Some people will tell you it's horrible and the teachers are strict, but as long as you keep your head out of trouble and work hard, you will learn
